What many don’t know is that the federal government currently runs not one but two service-disabled veteran-owned small business programs. Both the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs have programs that recognize and set aside work for SDVOSBs. Though the programs are similar, and becoming more so all the time, important differences remain, including that only the VA has to set aside work for SDVOSB concerns when it believes that it will receive reasonable offers from at least two capable SDVOSBs (the “Rule of Two”) and that the VA runs the only government program that recognizes VOSBs
